Google Algorithm update confirmed

Google Algorithm Update confirmed – March 2019

It looks like Google rolled out a new algorithm update last week. It has been confirmed by Danny Sullivan at the Twitter handle @searchliaison;

I did see some changes last week, starting on last Sunday March 10, 2019. But I am not sure if its because of this, I started a new link building campaign on my main site a few weeks ago which might be kicking in as well. I even got a very valuable link from a big news site.

Did you see any changes in Google rankings? Or anything else at all? On one of the bigger webmaster forums (webmasterworld) I saw some topics about it people mentioning this was a huge update…

Valuable backlink by just asking

As I said; I got a very valuable backlink by just asking for a link. The site has a domain authority of 61 with a page authority of 71. Good link if you ask me. This is what I did; I searched google for my website and saw a couple of sites talking about my website without any link. So I mailed three of these sites and one of them responded and quickly added my link.

I just asked friendly and they wrote a friendly mail back and added the link. The other two sites didn’t bother to answer and didn’t add any link, but that doesn’t matter. At least I got 1 valuable link which normally would cost quite some money. Might be a good idea for you to do the same. Who knows where your website is mentioned 🙂

Rankings are picking up

One of my new niche sites gained rankings since a couple of days. What gets my attention is that the higher rankings in Google are not just from 1 or 2 keywords but from several keywords. Even keywords that I am not particularly targetting.

Check out the screen below (30 days of traffic). As you can see its going up, up, up. I am checking the numbers for today and it looks like it will not surpass 100 uniques today. It might stabalize around 100… I am not sure. But things are definitily moving.

Get more traffic

75% of the traffic is coming from Google. A good amount I guess. With this kind of traffic you are pretty sure it is targetted. The average time is over 2 minutes per visitor and bounce rate is below 5% (!).

Top Channels

The Google AdSense income from this site is also up compared with last month (obvious). Not sure yet where it will go. Will keep you guys updated!

No lazy Sunday today

Today I put some good work into my creditcard site. I updated all posts from the site (25 posts at the moment) and got some new content in as well. I am still not sure if i’m pulling a dead horse here but okay…

Internal linking

One of the SEO factors is internal linking. Google also notices content easier and quicker when internal links are good. Most of the older posts didn’t have any internal links in the content. So I got through all posts and added 40 to 50 internal links in total if i’m guessing right.

Updated content

While checking posts for internal links I also updated some of the content. I’m still getting the hang of it again as I didn’t blog or write for a long time. So it takes some time to write a few good sentences that make sense on the creditcard topic. In some posts I just added a few words / changed sentences and in other I wrote an extra 200 to 300 words. Now lets see if this helps the rankings

Google AdSense

I also changed all Google AdSense ads on the site. I’m trying some of the recommended sizes now including the responsive size. The responsive banner ad will change to the device that is visiting (desktop, mobile, tablet) which should do good I guess… I tested myself on desktop and mobile and it looks good.

Like I mentioned before in this post I am not sure if it’s worth it to work on this site. The site is nearly two years old and never brought in any money. I will find out after a month or two I hope.

New Domains

Today I registered some new domains as well. These domains are in the financial niche and I am planning to make some small Google AdSense sites on it. They are exact match domains and get around 250 to 1000 exact searches monthly for the keyword(s). The financial niche is not easy I know… But lets give it a try.
